F-22 Raptor vs Sukhoi SU-57
In today blog, we are going to compare two most advanced fighter jets of 2020. The first one is Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor and the second one is Sukhoi SU-57. It is still debatable from a long time that who will win the battle between F-22 Raptor and Sukhoi SU-57.
F-22 Raptor is a single seat twin engine fifth generation stealth fighter jet develop by Lockheed Martin while the Sukhoi SU-57 is a single engine multi-role fifth generation stealth fighter.
The unit cost of F-22 Raptor is $150million which is why it is one of the worlds most expensive fighters ever developed while the cost of production of SU-57 is only $42million.
The F-22 Raptor is 19m in length while Su-57 is 20m.
The wingspan of F-22 is 13.5m and Su-57 wingspan is 14m and as far as the height is concern the F-22 is 5m and Su-57 is 4.5m.
The F-22 is powered by two Pratt & Whitney F-119-PW-100 turbo fans engines which allows F-22 Raptor to fly at the maximum speed of 2414km/hr.
The SU-57 is powered by two Saturn A1-41F1 Turbofans with trust vectoring which allows SU-57 to fly at the maximum speed of 2120km/hr
Capacity of Fuel:
The Fuel capacity of Su-57 is 10300kg while F-22 can carry only 8200kg of fuel. The fuel capacity allows aircraft to cover more distance so SU-57 cover more much more distance than F-22.
The SU-57 can travel more distance than Raptor. the SU-57 can cover approximately 3500km distance while the F-22 Raptor cover less distance than SU-57 which is only 2963km.
The F-22 Raptor carries four weapons in internal bay and the wings can carries up to eight in external bay on side wings. The SU-57 on the other hand can carries six weapons in internally while 6 on side wings.
F-22 Raptor radar P-77 is designed to engage multiple targets under any weather conditions. The P-77 changes frequencies with seconds which makes F-22 more secure from any enemy electronic attacks.
The P-77 radar estimated range of 240 km against an 11 sq ft (1 m2) target and 400 km or more in narrow beams
The SU-57 include cheek mounted array and is also said to incorporate with L-band radar arrays blended in side its large maneuvering. This radar is more for targets discrimination and identifications than anything else.
It has the ability to track 60 targets and shoot 16 simultaneously, at the same time having the ability to engage 4 targets on land simultaneously altogether.
So when it comes to a close dogfight combat, it will be tied or we can say it will completely depends on pilots to how he can maneuver aircraft to win the battle because both of these fighter is highly maneuverable. But when it’s comes a long range combat F-22 will win because of its superior computing technologies and advanced avionics.
