The wreckage of a Su-35S multi-role fighter jet, the first loss in the war, was uploaded on social media by Ukraine’s military.
The fighter, which is often referred to as a fifth-generation fighter but lacks stealth, was supposedly shot down by Ukraine’s antiquated air defense network.

According to the Oryx Blog, Russia has lost 19 fighter jets so far throughout its invasion.
The images reveal the first reported loss of a Su-35S, dubbed the “Flanker-E” by NATO.
The Su-35S is a development of the Su-27 Flanker, a dedicated air superiority heavy fighter from the Cold War era.
The Su-27 developed into the multi-role Su-35S over time, much like the US Air Force’s F-15A Eagle air superiority heavy fighter morphed into the F-15EX Super Eagle multi-role fighter.

Russia’s war in Ukraine isn’t going well, and the loss of one of the country’s most modern fighter jets this week added to Moscow’s troubles.
