Venus Aerospace Unveil Stargazer Mach.9 Hypersonic Space-plane
At the Up Summit in Bentonville, Arkansas, Venus Aerospace, a startup creating hypersonic aircraft, unveiled the “Stargazer,” the company’s first conceptual vehicle design.
Who is Venus?
Since the company’s foundation in 2020, the Venus Vehicle Engineering Team has been working on this iteration. Venus has subsequently secured nearly $33 million with the help of leading venture capitalists and $1 million in government funding to create a Mach 9 hypersonic drone and a Mach 9 spaceplane, both capable of one-hour global travel.
Venus will commence subsonic and supersonic flight testing of a scaled drone within the next year, according to a news statement.
Stargazer Hypersonic Plane
“Stargazer” is a projected hypersonic drone and a hypersonic space plane that are both said to be capable of one-hour global travel. The hypersonic plane will take off from a conventional airport and fly to the edge of space.
Before flying hypersonically, the new Mach 9 hypersonic drone and space plane must be able to take off and land subsonically at regular airports. When completed, the “Stargazer” will measure 100 feet (30.5 metres) wide by 150 feet (46 metres) long, with a takeoff weight of 150,000 pounds (68039 kg). It will be able to carry a total of 12 passengers.
According to the business, after taking off from a standard airport and reaching 170,000 feet (51,817 metres), Stargazer will level off and accelerate to Mach 9. Distances that would normally take a typical aeroplane the better part of a day to cover will be covered in about an hour.
